# Aptos SRB

Learn how Aptos staking rewards are calculated. APTSRB formula covers per-epoch reward rate, epochs per year, validator performance, and commission.

APTSRB is a benchmark representing the mean, annualized staking rate across all active Aptos validators.

APTSRB is calculated and published by Staking Rewards via the [Aptos Profile](https://www.stakingrewards.com/asset/aptos) and [Data API](https://www.stakingrewards.com/data-api).

> **TL;DR:** Aptos staking rewards are determined by a protocol-set reward rate per epoch multiplied by the number of epochs per year (\~2-hour epochs). Validator-level rates are adjusted by commission and proposal performance. Slashing is not currently implemented.

$$
APTSRB = rrpe \* epy
$$

<table data-full-width="false"><thead><tr><th width="141">Formula key</th><th width="158">Metric name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>rrpe</td><td>Reward rate per Epoch</td><td>The tokens a validator earns per staked APT per epoch, assuming 100% performance. Sourced from the periodical staking rewards configuration (<code>0x1::staking_config::StakingRewardsConfig</code>), a fixed-point value that on-chain governance revises on a recurring period and which decays toward a governance-set floor. The legacy <code>StakingConfig.rewards_rate</code> field is frozen at its genesis value and no longer reflects rewards actually paid.</td></tr><tr><td>epy</td><td>Epochs per Year</td><td>How many epochs there are in a year. Currently, epchs last approximately 7200s (2 hours)</td></tr></tbody></table>

* The reward rate is set by on-chain governance rather than fixed at genesis. It decays each rewards period toward a floor, and is currently clamped at that floor — the configured rate and the configured minimum are equal.
* Emissions are minted only to staked APT; unstaked tokens receive no rewards.

#### Slashing

1. Currently, slashing is not implemented in the Aptos Network

### APT Validator Staking Reward Rate: APTSRB(v)

Staking Rewards calculates the APTSRB for each validator based on their individual performance and commission rate.

$$
APTSRB(v) = APTSRB \* (1 - c) \* p
$$

<table data-full-width="false"><thead><tr><th width="150.33333333333331">Formula key</th><th width="187">Metric name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>c</td><td>Commission</td><td>The fee imposed by a specific validator to its delegators.</td></tr><tr><td>p</td><td>Performance</td><td>This metric is determined by the ratio between number of successful proposals by the validator and the total number of proposals made by the validator</td></tr></tbody></table>

***

#### Observation Period:

1. The APTSRB is determined based on the latest generated block at the evaluation point.
2. This data is then annualized for a comprehensive year-long projection.

#### Calculation

The calculation happens every 2 hours and is immediately published via [Data API](https://www.stakingrewards.com/data-api).

#### Limitations

1. APTSRB employs a 365-day convention for annualizing current slot times. This convention remains consistent and does not accommodate adjustments for leap years.
2. The reward rate is a governance-controlled parameter and may change by on-chain proposal, so historical APTSRB values reflect the rate in force at the time of each observation.

### APT Real Reward Rate: APTSRB^R

The real reward rate calculates the APTSRB adjusted for inflation in the network.

$$
APTSRB^R = (1 + APTSRB) / (1 + ir) - 1
$$

<table data-full-width="false"><thead><tr><th width="141">Formula key</th><th width="158">Metric name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>ir</td><td>Inflation Rate</td><td>The annual rate at which supply increases, measured as annual staking emissions net of burned transaction fees, divided by circulating supply.</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### Inflation Rate Behavior

APT emissions are minted exclusively to staked tokens, so annual gross emissions equal the staked supply multiplied by the reward rate per epoch and the number of epochs per year. Since the 2026 tokenomics update, 100% of transaction gas fees are burned, so newly minted tokens are partly offset by that burn and the inflation rate is reported net of it. Total supply is additionally subject to a hard cap of 2.1B APT.

Because emissions accrue only to staked APT while the burn scales with network activity, net inflation falls as the reward rate declines or as transaction throughput grows, and turns negative once burned fees exceed emissions.

### Other Aptos metrics calculated by Staking Rewards:

<table data-full-width="false"><thead><tr><th width="212.99999999999994">Metric</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Delegated Tokens</td><td>The number of APT tokens delegated to validators.</td></tr><tr><td>Self Staked Tokens</td><td>The number of APT tokens staked by validators directly.</td></tr><tr><td>Staking Wallets</td><td>Total number of unique delegations onchain. It doesn't distinguish based on unique delegator addresses.</td></tr><tr><td>Fee Revenue</td><td>Annualized transaction fee revenue in USD, calculated as daily transaction fees multiplied by 365 and the current APT price.</td></tr><tr><td>Total Supply</td><td>All APT in existence, summed across both on-chain supply stores: the legacy coin store and the fungible-asset store introduced by the APT fungible-asset migration. Reading either store alone understates total supply, and the split between them shifts as holders migrate.</td></tr><tr><td>Eligible Supply</td><td>The supply eligible to be staked. On Aptos all APT may be staked, including tokens outside circulating supply, so eligible supply equals total supply.</td></tr><tr><td>Staking Ratio</td><td>Staked tokens divided by eligible supply.</td></tr></tbody></table>
