# XPLA SRB

XPLA Staking Rewards Benchmark (XPLASRB™) Methodology. XPLA is a Cosmos SDK chain with 0% inflation where staking rewards come from transaction fees plus the x/reward module's per-block distribution.

XPLASRB is a benchmark representing the mean, annualized staking rate across all active XPLA validators.

XPLASRB is calculated and published by Staking Rewards via the [XPLA Profile](https://www.stakingrewards.com/asset/xpla) and [Data API](https://www.stakingrewards.com/data-api).

> **TL;DR:** XPLA mints no new tokens (0% inflation). Staking rewards are what the fee collector pays to the distribution module each block: the transaction fees of the previous block plus a fixed per-block transfer from XPLA's `x/reward` module. XPLASRB is the median per-block reward over the trailing 24 hours, annualized with the measured block time and divided by bonded tokens. It is gross of validator commission.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Unlike most Cosmos SDK chains, XPLA has **zero annual provisions**: the `x/mint` module has inflation fixed at 0. The ATOMSRB term `ap` is therefore always 0, and the non-fee part of staking income comes from the `x/reward` module instead of from minting.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
The calculations are derived from the ATOMSRB documentation, serving as the foundational reference to ensure the accuracy of relevant metrics.

### XPLA Staking Rewards Rate: XPLASRB

$$
XPLASRB = \widetilde{(f\_b + r\_b)} \* \frac{t\_y \* t\_d}{bt} / st
$$

<table><thead><tr><th width="145">Formula Key</th><th width="205">Metric Name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>fb</td><td>Block Transaction Fees</td><td>Net XPLA paid into the fee collector by the transactions of one block (fees charged, minus any unused-gas refund paid back out of the fee collector).</td></tr><tr><td>rb</td><td>x/reward Block Distribution</td><td>XPLA transferred from the <code>x/reward</code> module account to the fee collector in the same block.</td></tr><tr><td><span class="math">\widetilde{x}</span></td><td>Median</td><td>The median of the per-block value over 24 blocks sampled roughly one hour apart across the trailing 24 hours.</td></tr><tr><td>bt</td><td>Block Time</td><td>Average seconds per block, measured from the timestamps of the latest block and the block 15,000 heights earlier.</td></tr><tr><td>st</td><td>Staked Tokens</td><td>The total number of XPLA bonded with active validators.</td></tr><tr><td><span class="math">t_d</span></td><td>Day Constant</td><td>86400s</td></tr><tr><td><span class="math">t_y</span></td><td>Year Constant</td><td>365d</td></tr></tbody></table>

* XPLASRB takes into account all accumulated rewards, whether they have been claimed or remain unclaimed.
* XPLASRB operates on a non-compounded basis, meaning it excludes returns generated from the reinvestment of rewards.
* XPLASRB is **gross of validator commission**. Commission is applied per validator in XPLASRB(v).
* XPLASRB is based on an assumption of 100% validator efficiency. For a SRB Reward Rate adjusted according to individual validator performance, please refer to XPLASRB(v).
* The community tax is 0 on XPLA, so no `(1 - ct)` adjustment applies.

**Reward Flow**

At the start of every block the fee collector pays its whole balance to the distribution module, which splits it among validators and their delegators. That balance is made of two inflows from the previous block:

1. **Transaction fees.** Every transaction's fee is paid into the fee collector when the transaction executes.
2. **The `x/reward` distribution.** XPLA's `x/reward` module moves funds from a designated reward-distribution account into the fee collector each block. The module's parameters split this account's staking income 90% to the fee pool and 10% to the community pool (`fee_pool_rate` 0.9, `community_pool_rate` 0.1).

Because the fee collector's inflow in block N is what stakers receive in block N+1, the sum of both inflows in a block is a direct measure of gross staking rewards per block. Both inflows are read from the chain's block results rather than from a derived APR.

**Robust Estimation**

A median of 24 hourly samples is used instead of a mean, so a single anomalous block does not move the benchmark. At least 18 of the 24 samples must be read and verified (each sample's reported height must match the height requested); otherwise the measurement is not published for that run.

If the block sample cannot be taken, XPLASRB falls back to the chain's own daily block-reward series: the median of the last 7 complete days of total distributed rewards, multiplied by 365 and divided by staked tokens. If neither is available, no value is published for that run.

#### Slashing

* XPLASRB does not factor in the possibility of slashing occurrences.
* It's important to note that if validator entities face slashing, rewards will increase, as the slashed tokens are reallocated among validators.

#### Observation Period

* The XPLASRB is determined based on blocks sampled across the 24 hours preceding the point of evaluation.
* The per-block median is annualized for a comprehensive year-long projection, using the measured block time rather than a fixed block rate.

#### Calculation

* The calculation happens every 2 hours and is immediately published via [Data API](https://www.stakingrewards.com/data-api).

#### Limitations

* XPLASRB employs a 365-day convention. This convention remains consistent and does not accommodate adjustments for leap years.
* The transaction-fee component depends on network usage and on the chain's fee parameters, which can change in steps. A 24-hour window reflects such a change within a day.
* The `x/reward` distribution is funded from a reserve account, not from minting. Its size is set by that account's balance and the module's parameters, and it can change if either changes.
* The reward-distribution account is itself a delegator. Its own share of rewards is recycled through `x/reward` (90% back to stakers, 10% to the community pool). Its stake is included in staked tokens, so numerator and denominator are consistent.
* Off-chain incentive programs are not included.
* If neither the RPC nor the FCD fallback yields a reward measurement in a calculation cycle, XPLASRB is not published for that cycle. The last published value remains until the next successful cycle; no fee-only substitute is published.
* There is no guarantee that individual validators will produce XPLASRB. Individual rates differ due to commission and performance.

### XPLA Validator Staking Rewards Rate: XPLASRB(v)

Staking Rewards calculates the XPLASRB for each validator based on their individual 7-day average performance and commission rate.

$$
XPLASRB(v) = XPLASRB \* p \* (1 - cr)
$$

<table><thead><tr><th width="147">Formula Key</th><th width="165">Metric Name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>p</td><td>Performance</td><td>The 7-day average percentage of successfully signed blocks, calculated as 1 minus (missed blocks / signed blocks window). Clamped to the 0-1 range.</td></tr><tr><td>cr</td><td>Commission Rate</td><td>The percentage commission rate the validator has set as a delegation fee.</td></tr></tbody></table>

***

### XPLA Real Reward Rate: XPLASRB^R

The real reward rate calculates the XPLASRB adjusted for inflation in the network.

$$
XPLASRB^R = (1 + XPLASRB) / (1 + ir) - 1
$$

<table><thead><tr><th width="147">Formula Key</th><th width="148">Metric Name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>ir</td><td>Inflation Rate</td><td>The annual provisions divided by the total on-chain supply of the bond denom. For XPLA, this is 0.</td></tr></tbody></table>

**Inflation Rate Behavior**

* XPLA's `x/mint` module has minimum, maximum and current inflation all set to 0, and annual provisions are 0. No new tokens are minted.
* The `x/reward` distribution redistributes existing tokens from a reserve account and is not counted as inflation.
* Since `ir = 0`, the real reward rate equals the nominal reward rate: `XPLASRB^R = XPLASRB`.

### Other XPLA metrics calculated by Staking Rewards

<table><thead><tr><th width="190">Metric</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Staked Tokens</td><td>The total number of XPLA tokens bonded with all validators.</td></tr><tr><td>Delegated Tokens</td><td>The number of XPLA tokens delegated to validators by external delegators.</td></tr><tr><td>Self Staked Tokens</td><td>The number of XPLA tokens bonded by validators directly.</td></tr><tr><td>Staking Wallets</td><td>This metric refers to the number of unique delegator addresses with at least one delegation on-chain.
