STRD Staking Rewards Benchmark (STRDSRB™) Methodology

STRDSRB is a benchmark representing the mean, annualized staking rate across all active Stride validators.

STRDSRB is calculated and published by Staking Rewards via the Stride Profile and Staking Data API.

STRDSRB=ty(bp/bttd+df+lp)(1ct)/stSTRDSRB = t_y * ( bp / bt * t_d + df +lp) * ( 1 - c t ) / st
Formula keyMetric nameDescription

bp

Block Provision

Blocks Provision is calculated by "annual provisions / blocks_per_year", whereas the annual provision is recalculated by the stride protocol for each block according to inflation parameters, and the blocks_per_year is a constant parameter set by stride governance.

bt

Block Time

The average block time over the last 24 hours. Note, that this number often differs significantly from the expected block time.

df

Daily Fees

The total number of STRD tokens paid as transaction fees in the last 24 hours.

lp

Liquid Staking Provisions

Share of the LST fees that goes to the Stride Stakers in the respective token.

ct

Community Tax

Community Tax is the percentage of inflation rewards and fees that are sent to the community pool at each block. The constant parameter is set by Stride governance.

st

Staked Tokens

The total number of STRD tokens bonded with active, non-jailed validators.

tdt_d

Day Constant

86400s

tyt_y

Year Constant

365d

Stride has introduced a system whereby stakers receive fees from LSTs in addition to block commissions and daily fees. The reward structure and fee schedule can be adjusted by the governance community, indicating a flexible approach to managing market dynamics and user behavior.

  • STRDSRB takes into account all accumulated rewards, whether they have been claimed or remain unclaimed.

  • STRDSRB operates on a non-compounded basis, meaning it excludes returns generated from the reinvestment of rewards.

  • STRDSRB is based on an assumption of 100% validator efficiency. For a STRDSRB adjusted according to individual validator performance, please refer to STRDSRB(v).

Slashing

  1. STRDSRB does not factor in the possibility of slashing occurrences.

  2. It's important to note that if validator entities face slashing, rewards will increase, as the slashed STRD token are reallocated among validators.

Stride Validator Staking Rewards Rate: STRDSRB(v)

Staking Rewards calculates the STRDSRB for each validator based on their individual performance and commission rate.

STRDSRB(v)=STRDSRB(1p)(1cr)STRDSRB(v) = STRDSRB * (1*p)*(1-cr)
Formula keyMetric nameDescription

p

Performance

The percentage of successfully validated blocks.

cr

Commission Rate

The percentage commission rate the validator has set as a delegation fee for all delegators.

Observation Period:

  1. The STRDSRB is determined based on the latest generated block at the point of evaluation.

  2. This data is then annualized for a comprehensive year-long projection.

Calculation

The calculation happens every 2 hours and is immediately published via Staking Data API.

Limitations

STRDSRB employs a 365-day convention for annualizing current block provisions and daily fees. This convention remains consistent and does not accommodate adjustments for leap years.

STRD Real Reward Rate (STRDSRB^R)

The real reward rate calculates the STRDSRB adjusted for inflation in the network.

STRDSRBR=1+STRDSRB/(1+i)1STRDSRB^R = 1+STRDSRB /(1+i)-1
Formula keyMetric nameDescription

i

Inflation Rate

The annual provisions adjusted by the actual block time of the last 24h and divided by the total token supply in the network.

Inflation Rate Behaviour

Stride has three types of token emissions: block-by-block emissions, emitted every block on the Stride blockchain, incentives distribution, and token vesting to core contributors and partners.

Other metrics calculated by Staking Rewards:

MetricDescription

Delegated Tokens

The number of tokens delegated to validators

Self Staked Tokens

The number of tokens staked by validators directly.

Staking Wallets

This metric refers to the total quantity of distinct delegations made. It doesn't distinguish based on unique delegator addresses and excludes considerations of any minimum delegation thresholds.
